The mines are a unique place where many generations of Polish miners have created a world of underworld chambers and decorated chapels carved out of salt, including the famous Chapel of St. Kinga. Drive to “Divine Mercy Shrine” to visit the shrine’s grounds and basilica. Celebrate Mass at the shrine. Lunch is on your own. Continue with a tour of Krakow, including visits to Wawel Hill Cathedral. Then, walk along Kanonicza Street, pausing at building #21, “Deanery,” where Pope John Paul II resided while living in Krakow. Then, to the Mariacki Church and the Market Square. Dinner and overnight in Krakow.

Later, cross the Charles Bridge to visit the old town, the Market Square, Astronomical Clock, and Wenceslas Square. Dinner and overnight.

Our visits today include the Fisherman’s Bastion, which takes its name from the guild of fishermen who were responsible for defending this stretch of city walls in the Middle Ages. Next, visit Matyás Church, a gorgeous Romanesque-style church whose Ecclesiastical Art museum houses numerous sacred relics and medieval stone carvings, including replicas of the Hungarian royal crown and coronation jewels. Visit St. Stephan Basilica. Transfer to Szekesfehervar for dinner and overnight.
